Zora Puckett

Mrs. Zora T. Puckett, of Hoover, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 at the age of 80. She retired from the U.S. Treasury Dept. as Director of the Electronics Operations Branch of Birmingham. She was active with many service organizations including Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1979, Hoover's Friends of the Library, Historical Society, New Horizon's Senior Group and Board of Education; M Power (Adult Literacy Program), and a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Salvation Army.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Martis R. Puckett, 2 sisters and a brother.
She is survived by a son, Brent Puckett (Tammy); a daughter, Brenda Plyler; 2 grandsons, Brandon Puckett (Stacey) and Jarrod Shadrick; 2 granddaughters, Chairidy Eddy-Puckett (Brian) and Zoie Puckett; 3 great grandchildren, Zachary, Savannah and Warren; 3 brothers, Bill, Butch and Tommy Thomas; and special friend, Ray Sliwa and his family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 12 to 1:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Jim Savage officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association or the Hoover Library.
