Wyndell Dykes

of Bessemer, AL, formerly of Hilton Head Island, SC, passed away at the age of 85 on Thursday, June 16, 2005. He was born in Cochran, GA, December 4, 1919, one of 12 children to James Perry Dykes and Sue Belle Petty. He is survived by a son, Wyndell C. Dykes, Jr and two grandsons, James and David. An avid golfer, Mr. Dykes served as a marine stationed in Panama during WWII and was a past mayor of Cochran, GA. He was active in the Georgia Jaycees and other civic organizations. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Currier-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy, 150, Hoover, AL, with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing.
