Winnifred Bogle Little Pruett of Picayune, Mississippi passed away Tuesday, September 28 at the home of her daughter Leigh Morgan Lorino in Birmingham Alabama, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Oakridge Tennessee, July 29, 1945. She is survived by her daughter Leigh Lorino, son in law Chris and grandchildren Madeline Claire and Benjamin Jacob, a sister in law, Lyn Little of Chicago, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews, an aunt, Reba Davis Williams of Newport, Tennessee and a cousin, Mary Anna Pirozzoli of Greeneville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents Mary E.and Harry E. Little, her brothers Frank E. Little and James M. Little. She received her Bachelors Degree from East Tennessee State University in music education. She taught music in Greene County and Greeneville Tennessee City Schools. After moving to Picayune, she received her master’s degree from The University of Southern Mississippi in Special Education and taught at St. Michael’s Academy, a residential facility for at risk children. She, later, became principal of the school. She ended her teaching career with the Hancock County School District in Kiln, Mississippi as a Middle School Resource teacher. She was director of the choir at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for nearly 20 years. Her family stated she will be remembered as a classic beauty, a gifted musician and dedicated teacher. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am on Saturday, October 2nd at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama. A funeral mass will follow. Inurnment will be at OLS Columbarium. Her family would like to give their thanks to the many doctors and nurses who gave of themselves to care for her.
