William “Bill” Morris Roberson passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at the age of 79. During the last days of his life, he was surrounded by his devoted wife and loving family members.
Bill was born on April 28, 1943 in Ripley, TN to Martha Vandergriff and Alfred Leroy Roberson II. He graduated from Ripley High School where he played football for the Ripley Tigers. He married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 62 years. Most of Bill’s life was spent in Helena, AR where he and Linda raised daughters, Danya and Kelly. Being a self-made businessman, he owned two local restaurants, Burger Ranch and Burger Shack. They will always be remembered for having the “Best Coke In Town”. Bill’s favorite pastime was the game of golf. He played in countless couples scrambles over the years with his competitive wife and made sure to teach each of his grandchildren to drive in his golf cart. Along with golf, he enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at the hunting camp with his buddies. Once he became a Papaw, he spent his days loyally supporting each grandchild in all of their sports and extracurricular activities. After 45 years as a restaurant owner, Bill retired in 2019. In 2020, he and his wife moved to Hoover, Alabama where they have enjoyed supporting the activities of their great grandchildren.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Sellari Roberson; daughters, Danya (Don) O’Bannon and Kelly Wilson; grandchildren, Megan Wise (David), Alex Wilson and Ty Wilson; great grandchildren, William Wise and Daniel Wise; siblings, Susie Gillespie, Cheryl Follis (Ikie) and Rick Vandergriff (Kimberly); as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alfred “Pat” Leroy Roberson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Sunday, December 11, 2022 in the Currie-Jefferson Chapel, Hoover, Al with visitation beginning at 10 am.
