William "Bill" Stinson, 82, passed away on January 31, 2024, in Birmingham, AL after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of Leukemia on January 24th, 2024.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joan Stinson; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Brian Butler; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Jason Warren; grandchildren Jamie and Jessica Butler, Jordan Weems (husband Taylor), Carter Warren, Sandee Warren, Brandon Warren; and great grandson Deluca Weems.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Annette Stinson, Dr. Willie Stinson and Louise Stinson, and his brother, James 'Jim' Coyle Stinson.
Growing up, many people knew Bill as "Billy Mack" and he lived all over Alabama, as his dad was a dedicated family doctor. Bill and Joan were married at Siluria Baptist Church on June 7th, 1962, after meeting at the ages of 15 and 16. A blind date arranged by a friend of his led to 61 years of marriage, two daughters, several grandchildren, and most recently a great grandson. Bill served in the National Guard for six years and worked as a mail carrier for almost 30 years. After retiring, he and Joan began traveling, taking over 50 cruises and traveling throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, and Alaska. In addition to traveling, Bill loved fishing, spending time at their lake house, and Alabama and Thompson football. He was the original Mr. Fix It, constantly fixing and building things. If you needed a tool or anything repaired, he was your man. Bill was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Alabaster (previously Elliotsville) and loved his church family as well as countless friends. He was the most giving and generous person you'd ever want to meet; he truly had a servant's heart. Bill loved and was loved by his wife, children and grandchildren and the most recent addition to his family, his first great grandson, who lit up his face.
