William "Buddy" P. Starnes, Jr.

William P. Starnes Jr. “Buddy” passed to his eternal, heavenly home on Sunday September 1st, 2024, at the age of 81. “Buddy” was born to proud parents William and Louise Starnes on May 19th, 1943. Buddy proudly served in the US Navy from 1961 to 1965, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to his country.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Donna. Additionally, his son Jon Starnes and wife Christy, his daughter Shea Chatham and husband David, his cherished grandchildren; Ethan, Emma, and Will, and Great-Grandchildren; Khloe, Emerson, and Corbin.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, William Paul Starnes Sr. and Ida Louise Thompson Starnes. As well as his sisters; Barbara Thomas and Joyce Mackey.

Buddy was an Alumnus of Southeastern Bible College. Buddy grew strong in his faith in God and his commitment to education. Buddy was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodstock where he served the Lord in many capacities. Buddy made some loving and lasting relationships through his Sunday School and in his preaching opportunities. 

Buddy will always be fondly remembered for his compassion, kindness, generosity, and love.

The funeral services will be held on Monday, September 9th, 2024. Visitation will take place from 11AM to 2PM, followed by the service at 2PM and graveside immediately after at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 2701 John Hawkins Pkwy, Hoover, AL 35244.
