William Schiesz, Sr

The son of Willard and Nona Schiesz, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the age of 79. He was retired after 40 plus years as a sales engineer in the material handling industry. A recent member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, he was involved in lay ministry and grief support ministry. He was an active Scouter in the local Boy Scout Council.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Nadine Schiesz.
He is survived by Wynda Lea Schiesz, two sons, Bill Schiesz, Jr. (Sandra) and Karl Schiesz (Patti), two brothers, Don Schiesz (Letty Ann) and Byron Schiesz (Glenda), one sister, Karen Dean-Maddox (Teddy), eight grandchildren, Sarah, Mary Catherine, Jamie, Karl, and Michael Schiesz, Allison Hyde, Stanley and Andrew Adams, and beloved nieces and nephews, Martha Lynch (Paul), Don Schiesz (Laura), Byron Schiesz (Mary Lee) and Allison Nelson.
The family will receive friends Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 12-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mark Cushman officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Briarwood Presbyterian Church or Hunter Street Baptist Church.
