William Porter

June 16, 1922 — February 9, 2016


Age 93, passed away Tuesday, February 9th in Birmingham, AL

Frank was a WWll veteran and a member of the The Greatest Generation. He served in the European Theatre, specifically in the 1st Army Battery A, 381st Field Artillery Battalion in the Rhineland Campaign. This campaign advanced into Germany in 1944. Frank was awarded four medals two being Bronze Stars. Frank was preceded in death by his daughter Kathy Smith, son Ronald Porter and granddaughter Shelley Smith. He is survived by his son Curtis Porter, Sr (Cynthia), daughter Nevelyn Goodwin, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and former spouse Myrtle Connell. Visitation will be Friday February 12th, 10:00am to 12:00pm at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton Alabama. A private interment with full military honors will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover Alabama.
