William Alan Jones passed away peacefully on January 26, 2023, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Betty Jones, and best friends, Pete, Johnny, and Larry. He is survived by his wife, Marcie Mitchell - Jones who he married on February 12, 1989; daughters, Morgan Lee Jones, and Marissa Lyn Jones; grandson, Ryker; brother, Davey (Janie) Jones; nephews, Derek (Lauren) Jones and Peyton (Kristin) Riggins; as well as in laws, and other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Alan was born in Birmingham, raised in East Lake and Roebuck, and played sports at Wahouma, Huffman, and South Roebuck. He then graduated from Banks High School in 1970, where he showed off his very cool red 1966 Chevelle SS396. His early years were spent having many great times at Logan Martin Lake with family and friends. Later he enjoyed golf with old friends as well as family time at Hoover Country Club. He was an avid sports fan and there was little chance of stumping him on sports and music trivia. Alan loved his wife, two daughters, family, and friends very much, and he found great joy in spending time with his little buddy, 2-year-old grandson Ryker. His kindness, generosity, and happiness touched everyone around him, and he will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Apple.
Visitation will be Monday, January 30, 2023, from 4:30-5:00 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, followed by a service and reception at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Children's of Birmingham - Cleft Department, in honor of his grandson, Ryker Ruff.
