Walter Kenneth Adams, of Hoover, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at age 80. He was born and raised in Meridian, MS. Kenneth graduated from Meridian High School in 1956. He was also a graduate of The University of Southern Mississippi. He was a member of the Mississippi Air National Guard for seven years and served on active duty in the United States Air Force during the Berlin Crisis. Kenneth joined the financial staff at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1969 where he served as Hospital Accountant and Associate Director of Accounting until his retirement in 2000. After his retirement, Kenneth loved to travel with friends and family. Kenneth was a lifetime Methodist and a member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church and member of the Canterbury Sunday School Class. He loved volunteering in many roles at the church, and helped build numerous Habitat for Humanity homes with his church family. Kenneth was an avid golfer, fisherman, and Atlanta Braves fan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter B. Adams and Fraulein E. Adams.
Kenneth is survived by Kay Adams, his loving wife of 56 years; two sons, Kenny Adams (Tracy) and Kerry Adams (Erin); two grandchildren, Taylor Adams and Matthew Adams; one brother, Ronnie Adams of Meridian, MS; and many friends.
Visitation and Funeral will be held on Thursday May 17, 2018, at Bluff Park United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the Funeral service will follow at noon. Reverend Mike Holly and Reverend Reid Crotty will be co-officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bluff Park United Methodist Church in memory of Kenneth.
