Walter Mims

Walter Mims of Birmingham, AL, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the age of 72. Walter was born to parents, David and Jean Mims on January 8, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas. He was the youngest of four children. Walter attended Jones Valley High School, Jacksonville State University and was a member of the United States Coast Guard. He was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Jimmy.

Walter is survived by his wife, Emily; his son, Walt; his daughter-in-law, Bianca; his sister, Judy Gardner; niece, Stacy Holland; and grand-niece, Meagan Holland.

The visitation will be at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church on Thursday, January 26, 2017, from 9:00-10:30 AM with Mass at 10:30. A reception will follow at the Lakeview Clubhouse in Hoover.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, St. Jude's Children's Hospital or a charity of your choice.
