Walter Fleming

Walter H. Fleming, age 100, passed away in his home on Tuesday morning July 18th. He was born 1/26/1917 in Edgewater, AL. He worked for TCI beginning in 1934 as a laborer, and retired as Chief Safety Inspector. During WWII he served in the Army Air Corps as a B17 flight engineer, logging thirty-four combat missions in the European theater.

He is survived by Annabell Fleming, his wife of seventy-one years, three children - Kay Mealins, Donna Henderson and Tom Fleming as well as five grandchildren – Amanda Powell, Jeff Henderson, Dylan Fleming, Amy Toenes (Henderson) and Meagan Fleming; in addition to seven great grandchildren

He was an active member of Shades Crest Baptist Church, an avid golfer and long-time member of Woodward Country Club-even scoring a hole-in-one there in 1999.

The service will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover on Thursday, July 20th at 2:00, with visitation at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
