Walter Eckert, Jr

Mr. Walter Joseph Eckert Jr., 86, passed away May 1, 2015 in Pensacola Florida. He was a loving husband, father, and friend.
Walt was an avid golfer who spent many years playing golf with his friends at Chace Lake Country Club. He had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. He could always be counted on to make us laugh. Under his gruff exterior, Walt was a kind soul. He would do anything for his family and friends. He will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen, his daughters Micki Baker (Duane), Celeste Denmon (Joe), Penny Durrett (Dave), three grandchildren and his beloved dog Riley.
A service will be held Tuesday May 5, 2015, 11 o’clock, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home 2710 Jeff Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, Alabama. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jimmy Hale Mission in Birmingham, Alabama.
