Virginia Vanderver

age 94 of Bluff Park, AL passed away on February 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Horace Matthew (Van) Vanderver. Her deceased parents were James G. Manuel and Lilla Dale Manuel of West Jefferson County, AL. Also, passing before her were three brothers and two sisters: Erskine, Herman, and Furman and sisters Lois Pittman and Hurdlene Waugh. She is survived by one son; James D. Vanderver (Nancy) of Jacksonville, FL, one daughter; Donna Keith (Bobby) of Hoover; 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren; and one sister Margaret McLaurin of Montgomery, AL.
She was a member of Shades Crest Baptist for 56 years. Mammy, as she was lovingly known by the family, was passionately devoted to her family. Her long life blessed us with special memories of her delicious Sunday dinners, her unconditional love of family, her dry wit, her sense of style and, of course, her movie star beauty. She overcame many obstacles with the strength and courage of a true southern belle. Because of her long life, we sometimes took for granted she would always be with us. We are comforted that she is now with the Lord, at peace, and reunited with her loving husband. The family is thankful for the special care given by care giver Fernanda Bell and hospice nurse Carolyn Clark. What a blessing they have been.
Time of graveside services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Ben Hale of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church officiating.
