Mrs. Virginia Woods Franklin, age 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020 with her husband, children, and grandchildren around her. She was born July 15, 1946 to Walter and Arlyn (McKinnon) Woods. She graduated from Ensley High School in 1963 and married the love of her life, Bobby Joe Franklin the same year. She met Bobby at a bowling alley and continued through adulthood bowling for pleasure and on teams locally. She worked several jobs but the one she excelled in was wife and mother. She loved her family, was always helping or cooking for someone, and loved sewing and cross stitch.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Arlyn Woods (McKinnon); and brother-in-laws, Thomas Surtees and Edwin L. Durham.
She is survived by her loving husband, Bobby Joe Franklin Sr.; sons, Bobby "Joey" Franklin Jr. (Barbara), Benjamin Franklin Sr. (Anna), and Blake Franklin (Emily); daughter, Leigh Ann Parker (Neal); grandchildren, Marisa Franklin, Julianna Franklin, Lauren Walker (Ian), Jenia Lucas (Sonny), Michaela Parker, Joshua Franklin, Alisha Franklin, Benjamin Franklin Jr., and McKinnon Franklin, and Claudia Leon; great-grandchildren, Justin "Parker" Lucas, Leona Walker, Roland Walker, and Mary Lucas; brother, James "Jim" Woods; sisters, Rebecca Hyde (David) and Cecilia Surtees; and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The private graveside service will be with family.
