Virgil C. “Butch” Powell, Jr., 74, of Birmingham, AL passed away on June 24, 2021. He was born in Birmingham on October 2, 1946. He died after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He grew up in Center Point, graduated from Hewitt-Trussville High School and the University of Alabama with a Bachelors and Masters degree in Business, and retired from Bell South.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Hunter O’Neil Powell; parents, Virgil C. Powell, Sr. and Christine Snow Powell; parents-in-law, Robert and Mary O’Neil; daughter-in-law, Alli Powell; and many beloved pets.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynda O’Neil Powell; sons, Tyler J. Powell and Patrick S. Powell; daughter, Summer Powell Aldrich (John); grandchildren, Graelyn Casey Aldrich and John Hunter Powell Aldrich; brothers, Pete Powell (Linda) and Joe Powell; niece, Chrissy Powell; and nephews, Brian Powell (Mary Clair) and Mike Powell (Melissa).
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The Memorial Service will begin from the funeral home chapel at 11:00am with Reverend Reid Crotty officiating.
Memorial Contributions can be made to Southern Care New Beacon Hospice, Trussville, AL or Colonel Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home, Pell City, AL.
