Vera Stewart

Vera Denise Stewart age 94 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, September 6th, 2021. Ms. Stewart was born June 28, 1927 in Chilton County, Alabama to David DeWitt Atchison and Roxie Atchison.

Ms. Stewart, referred to as Mom, Mother and Nanny was a strong, independent person who loved everyone she met. She adored and cherished her children and grandchildren. Ms. Stewart enjoyed gardening and working in the yard. She also enjoyed watching and feeding birds in her back yard. In Ms. Stewart's later years, she loved holidays and anytime she spent with her family.

Ms. Stewart is preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Stewart, brothers George Atchison, Tommy Atchison and Raymond Atchison, granddaughter Lynne Bell Cartee, grandson Benjamin Carlton Todd, and parents David Atchison and Roxie Atchison.

She is survived by her daughter Marilyn Todd Bell, son Roger Todd (Linda); daughter Christa “Chris” Todd Stewart; Grandchildren Toni Pearson (Joe), Cheryl Gaskins (Dominic), Robin Bowen, Michael Bell (Cindy) and numerous great-grandchildren.

Ms. Stewart will be laid to rest on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama. The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 AM for visitation, service at 11:00 AM, and burial following at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
