Valerie Jean Keelin

Valerie Jean (Courter) Keelin was born to Carroll and Virginia Courter on August 21, 1946 in Norton, Kansas. She passed away very peacefully in her home on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the age 78.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a wonderful friend to many. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth Keelin, daughter Carrie Marie (Keelin) Baker, son-in-law Brandon Baker, granddaughters Keelin Grace Baker and Lucy Austin Baker, sister Theresa Townley, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Valerie exuded zest and joy for life up until the last few months. She enjoyed traveling, crafting, sewing, scrapbooking, baking, spending quality time with family and friends, and so much more. She was an active member in the UMW (First UMC of Gadsden) and also the Morning Glories at Helena Methodist Church.

The family will greet guests on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 10:00 AM until the start of the memorial service at 11:00 AM, both taking place in the Chapel, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, Alabama, 35244. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens at the same location.
