Thomas "Tommy" Steve Tucker

Tommy S. Tucker age 88, of Hoover, AL, passed away on May 8, 2023.   He was born in Homewood, AL  October 22, 1934.  He was preceded in death by his parents Ernest S. and Lillian Tucker and daughter Chalice Tucker.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Tucker; daughter Lisa Tucker; son/brother Frank (Shannon) Tucker; son Steven Tucker; grandchildren Joey(Bethany) and Kayla(Jacob) Tucker; great grandchildren Colton and Ayden; and many other family members and friends.  In his early years Tommy graduated from Bluff Park School, during that time he would go to school early in the winter to build fires to keep the rooms warm.  Upon graduating from Shades Valley High in 1952, he attended and graduated from Auburn University in 1956.  He was a die-hard Auburn fan and lifetime member of the Auburn Alumni Association.  In 1975 he graduated from Birmingham School of Law.  He was a Charter Member of Shades Crest Baptist Church & Life Deacon.  Another major accomplishment was the time he served in U.S. Marine Corp and continued as an active member of Marine Corp League and a Life member of Leatherneck Association.  Tommy retired from GLAXOSMITHKLINE (GSK) as a Sales Consultant and Hoover Schools as a bus driver.  To support his passion for recording history of hometown and family, he was a Member of Hoover Historical Society and Homewood Historical Society.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 11:30 am at Shades Crest Baptist Church, 452 Park Ave, Birmingham, AL 35226, followed by funeral service at 1:00 pm, graveside to follow.  He will be laid to rest in Currie-Jefferson Memorial Gardens South on Hwy 150, Hoover.

A STATEMENT OF MY CHRISTIAN PILGRIMAGE as written by Tommy S. Tucker on 4/2/2010:

Mom & Dad had me with them in church with them as far back as I  remember.  I officially joined at age 10 to Bluff Park Baptist 4/1945 accepted Christ & Baptized at Dawson Baptist Church.  On Mother’s Day May 14, 1954 I, along with my Parents, Ernest & Lillian Tucker joined Shades Crest Baptist, at the 1st meeting thus being declared charter members.  The tremendous power of prayer of this church has always been an answer of needs in our Christian Fellowship have even a couple of miracles!   It has been a privilege to serve in many local and missionary work projects, from Mexico to New Hampshire and home church duties.
