of Helena, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the age of 83. He served our country in the US Army in WWII and was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star. and Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Stubbs served two terms in the State Legislator as State Represenative of Shelby County. He was most proud of his legislation procuring funds for the speech and hearing clinic and Traffic Safety Center at the University of Montevallo, along with adding exit ramps at Shelby County Airport and Pelham to Interstate 65, and his great conservation efforts for the Cahaba River. He was preceded in death by his wife, LaJuana Stubbs, and a daughter, Elaine Stubbs. He is survived by two sons, Thomas B. Stubbs (Cherie) and Sam Stubbs; a daughter, Anne Woodsmall; a former son-in-law, Bill Woodsmall; five grandchildren, Lee and Rachel Woodsmall, Alex and Tyler Stubbs, and Chris Moore; three sisters, Betty Hembree (John), Anne Braswell and Lorraine Naylor; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 3, 2007, from 12-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover, with funeral services to follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cahaba River Society or "Save the Cahaba".
