Thomas Moore

January 29, 1937 — March 7, 2015


Mr. Thomas B. Moore, of Hoover, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the age of 78. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he worked at the Birmingham News as an illustrator for 44 years. He was a member of the Steel City Sports Shooting Association, the Alabama Civil War Roundtable, a Volunteer for Vestavia Hills Public Library & Bookstore, former member of Vestavia Art Association, and a member of Hoover Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Margaret McNees Moore; his children, Virginia Moore Wilkinson (Gray) of Alpine, TX and Greg Thomas Moore; grandchildren, Faye Lynn Doss, Margaret Lynn Doss, and Charles Thomas Dodd, all of Birmingham; siblings, Donald Phillips Moore of Birmingham, AL and Margaret Anne Moore Mentz of Sarasota, FL; and his uncle, Patrick White of Ann Arbor, MI.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 10 - 11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel with Chuck Webster officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lads to Leaders Program at the Hoover Church of Christ or Child Haven in Cullman, AL.
