Susan Reed

Susan Parker Reed passed away at her home in Hoover on Oct. 15, 2014. She was born in Florence, AL on Feb. 8, 1961 and grew up in Killen. She was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and had a long career with AT&T where she held a leadership position as Director – IT Account Management. Her main focus was raising her two sons, Peyton and Parker, to be gentlemen and inspiring them to be the best they can be. She enjoyed college football Saturdays with her sons. She also loved researching family history with her husband and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She and her husband were fortunate to have two church families. Susan was a charter member of CrossBridge Church of Christ and also regularly attended Southminster Presbyterian Church where her husband is a long time member.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty (Kelley) Parker. She is survived by her father, Billy Parker; her brother Phil Parker; her sons, Peyton Grissom and Parker Grissom; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Grissom; and her husband, Rick Reed. She is also survived by her husband’s children, Natalie Reed, Shelby Thompson and Nick Reed, and grandchildren, Jack Thompson, Mary Thompson, Will Thompson, Hannah Reed and Charlie Reed.

A celebration of her life will be held Monday, Oct. 20 at CrossBridge Church of Christ. Visitation will be from 10 am to 12. The service will start at 12:30 pm. Burial will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Hoover. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the CrossBridge Mission Fund or to Southminster Presbyterian Church.
