Sue Parker

Sue Chandler Parker, 87, longtime resident of Bluff Park, AL passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of nearly 60 years, Norman Parker, as well as her grandson, Christopher Michael Sawyer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and known well in her community. She enjoyed doing art, puzzles, studying birds and attending Encore at Canterbury United Methodist Church.

Sue is survived by her four children, Jack Parker (Donna) of Las Vegas, NV; Renée Thomas (Ro); Eddy Parker (Susie) and Tinka Bentley (David) all of Hoover, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jay Parker (Sara) of Fort Myers, FL; Daniel Parker (Caitlin) of Reno, NV; Pvt. Randy Parker (Samantha) and Jenny Parker of Las Vegas, NV; Rebeccah Myrick (Jeff) of Birmingham, AL; Chandler Parker, Bobby Parker; Ryan Bentley, Marc Bentley and Stephen Bentley, all of Hoover, AL. Sue also was blessed with four great-grandchildren Lily and Abbey Myrick of Birmingham, AL; Tanner Parker of Las Vegas, NV and Lucy Parker of Fort Myers, FL, along with many nieces, nephews and special longtime family friend Greg Crittenden of Woodstock, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home and Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South on John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover. Family viewing will begin at 11:30 am. The family will receive friends and loved ones from noon to 1:00, with services immediately following, Reverend Derek Jacks officiating.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association for Alzheimer’s and dementia research, Encore at Canterbury United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
