Steven Jones

Mr. Steven Andrew Jones, of Wilsonville, AL, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at the age of 45. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Melissa Hurst, and their children, Ethan Knight, Madison Chase, and Emma Claire, his mother, Regina C. Phillips, his siblings, Cary Lee Jones (Danette), Theresa Jones Bradley (Jeffrey), Leanna Phillips Smith (Barry), and Victoria Ann Brownell, his niece and two nephews, and his loving lapdog, Indiana Jones, who held vigil and remained ever faithful.
Steven graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1987 and joined the US Marine Corps. Following his military service, he worked for Andress Engineering Associates for 22 years. He was a member of The Church at Brook Hills. Steven was a model of strength and grace, an inspiration to all who knew him, a valiant fighter, and a good and faithful servant to the end. He was sustained by his faith throughout his difficult battle with cancer, and he in turn sustained his family and friends. Steven was a great defender of the Gospel and lived by the commandment in Deuteronomy 6:5, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might." Steven taught these words diligently to his children, and he never questioned God's sufficiency for him or his family.
Steven's family is grateful for the overwhelming love and support of his friends, colleagues, healthcare providers, and church family.
A graveside service will be Friday, February 21, 2014, at 10:15 AM at Alabama National Cemetery with a memorial service following at 12 Noon at The Church at Brook Hills.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Family Assistance Fund at The Church at Brook Hills, 3145 Brook Highland Parkway, Birmingham, AL 35242.
