Born December 21, 1924 in Clear Springs of Blount County, Alabama to Dave Crockett Ingram and Bessie Bell Ragsdale Ingram, also of Blount County, Alabama and left this earthly home to join her family in Heaven, January 23 2025 at 11:05 P.M. in Hoover, Alabama.

Stella was one of eleven children and is survived by one younger brother D.C. Ingram (Doris).

Stella attended Clear Springs Methodist Church during her early years and attended Clear Springs School (a two-room schoolhouse) and continued her education at Blount County High School, later to become Oneonta High School in Oneonta, Alabama. Stella graduated from high school in 1943 and was the sole survivor of her graduating class prior to her death.

Upon graduation from high school Stella earned a degree from the Birmingham School of Business and went to work for the Tennessee Coal and Iron Company (TCI) in Fairfield, Alabama. While in high school Stella met Billy Thomas Gamble (deceased) who was to become her husband on December 13, 1946.

Stella was a Navy Wife for 17 years, raising her children in many different U S Navy seaport towns, San Diego, Portland, Norfolk, Charleston, and San Francisco. Upon Bill's retirement from the U S Navy Stella, Bill and the children moved back home to Alabama. They settled in Vestavia and Stella earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Samford University. With a great love for family and history Stella embarked on a journey into family genealogy. Stella, with the steadfast support of Bill embarked on many years of travel and research into her roots (along the way Bill started a similar path). Together they explored small towns and cemeteries across the south from Virginia to Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Stella's efforts lead to her having several books published on Ingram and Ragsdale families and assisted Bill in publishing a book on his Gamble Family). Stella was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and assisted many family members in their quests to become members of the DAR.

Stella was a part of the Saint Mark United Methodist Church Family, where she was a member for almost 60 years.

Stella is survived by two children, William David Gamble (Marion Gamble) and Susan Gamble Tucker (Donnie Tucker, deceased). Stella is survived by five Grandchildren, Kelly Suzanne Glaspell (Mike), Karen Renee' Allen (Shay), William David Gamble Jr. (Kelly), Andrew Collins Lacy (Lauren) and Peter Michael Lacy (Brandy) and ten Great Grandchildren, Emily Suzanne Favata, Vincent Gabriel Favata, Cameron Shay Allen, Alexy Brit Gamble, Trey William Gamble, Collins Lee Lacy, Rhett Gamble Lacy, Molly Anabelle Lacy, Jeb Thomas Lacy and Henry Collins Lacy and a former son-in-law Neal Lacy (Cindy).

In recent months Stella lived with her daughter Susan who provided a loving and caring home for Stella in her final days, which included a 100th Birthday Celebration in Stella's honor. Many family members and friends have shown their love and support for Stella in recent months and years. The list of those who gave support and comfort is long and includes her brother D.C. Ingram, sisters-in-laws Doris Ingram and Eula Ingram, nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews
