Sheila Bird

Sheila Faye Seale Bird, 55, from Birmingham , AL, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 21, 2021, after a 9-year battle with breast cancer.

The youngest of five children, Sheila was born to Morris and Beverly Seale on January 8, 1966. Sheila married her high school sweetheart, James Lewis Bird III, with whom she celebrated 35 years of devoted marriage on April 26 of this year. Together they raised two children - a son, Joshua Lewis Bird, and a daughter, Amanda Faye Bird. Sheila was also the doting “Nani” of granddaughter Sophia Faye Bird, with whom she shared a special bond.

Sheila had a passion for horses and was a skilled equestrian. She learned to ride a horse before she could ride a bicycle, and loved teaching her children, nieces, and nephews (who lovingly knew her as “SheShe”) to ride and take care of the horses. She adored spending time with her family, especially at the beach or the lake. Sheila enjoyed to water ski, also teaching her children, nieces, and nephews how to ski.

Sheila is survived by her husband Jim, her children Josh and Amanda, her granddaughter Sophia, brother Morris Seale, sister Kelly Norman (Brad), 5 nieces, 6 nephews, and many other beloved family members and dear friends.

Sheila was joyfully greeted in heaven by her father Morris Seale, mother Beverly Seale, brother Ricky Seale, sister Sandra Kilgore, and her cherished horse Big Sue and daughter’s horse Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 12-2pm on Friday, June 25 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover. A service will follow at 2pm in the chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

Sheila’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Allen L. Yeilding and staff, and the nurses and staff at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center’s 7th floor Cancer unit,  for the loving care they took of Sheila and our family these last nine years.
