of Hoover, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2010, at the age of 87. She was born and raised in Demopolis, AL and attended Hillman Hospital Nursing School. After serving in active duty as a 1st Lt. in the US Army Nursing Corp during WWII, Ms. Stallings returned to Demopolis and spent many years in the nursing profession. The family moved to Birmingham in 1968. During her time in Birmingham, Ms. Stallings was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church and the Woodmeadow Garden Club. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Bo Stallings; sister, Florence Nixon; and brothers Mabry and Robert Marler. She is survived by two daughters, Dr. Ginanne Stallings of Philadelphia, PA and Lynn Stallings Patmalnee of Pelham; one grandson, Lance Gibson and his wife, Carrie, of Montevallo; two great grandchildren, Kayla and Grant Gibson; and other family members include Dr. Jacqueline Pastis and Shirley H. Williams. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Monday, February 22, 2010 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Eugene Nail officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Green Valley Baptist Church or The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, PA (Jean Cortner Endowed Chair).
