Ms. Sandra Jeanne Alston, 81, passed away on September 18, 2019. Sandra was a strong, vibrant, and amazing talent who started playing the piano at the age of 2. She continued playing the piano her entire life and it also became part of her career. She was the owner of Snook Haven Fish Camp and Resort where she was a part of the nightly entertainment along with many talented music retirees. She retired from the Postal Service in Venice, Florida and was the Head of the Florida State Postal Union during the 1980s. She worked hard all her life and always took care of others. If someone needed something, she gave it. Most importantly, Sandra loved God. She is now at peace and in the arms of Jesus. Sandra is preceded in death by her son, Ben Sherman Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Daphne Dickinson (Paul) and Candace Mounger; grandchildren, Steven Thomas, Marisa Thomas, and Haley Finlay Hammond (Dustin); and great-grandchild, Harper Hammond. A visitation was held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL. The funeral service began at 10:00 am from the funeral home chapel. Entombment immediately followed at Jefferson Memorial Gardens-South.
