Ruth Kelly

Mrs. Ruth Sawyer Kelly of Birmingham, AL, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014, at the age of 88. Ruth was always there when needed. She was an extremely dedicated mother and wife. She married her high school sweetheart on Christmas Eve in 1942. After 71 years of marriage, they were always seen together. After the children were grown, she served the Hoover Community as an officer in “Friends of the Library” and the “Hoover Service Club”. Ruth was, indeed, loved by everyone.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Kelly, Sr., son, James E. Kelly, Jr. (Jim), daughter, Karen Kelly Allen, four grandchildren, Kelly Allen Martin, Lisa Allen Gammage, Robin Kelly, and Stephanie Kelly, and three great grandchildren, Austin White, Jayden Hobson, and Grayson Gammage.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 19, 2014, from 9-10 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 10AM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
