Ruth Harris

of Alabaster, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the age of 77. She was a lifelong resident of the Camp Branch/Saginaw area and member of Camp Branch United Methodist Church. Graduate of Thompson High School where she was a band member, Miss Thompson High School and Vice President of the 1953 Senior Class. Ruth attended Florence State Teachers College where she graduated in 1955 with a Secretarial Science Degree. She taught piano for a number of years at home and at Shelby Academy. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James Harris; a son, Travis Harris; a daughter, Lee Harris Fogle; 3 grandchildren, Anna Ruth, Zachary Allen and Madison Lee Fogle; a brother, Jimmy Naish; and a nephew, Chris Naish. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 1 to 2 PM at Camp Branch United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Bill Phares officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Suite 550 Chicago, IL 60631.
