Rush McClinton passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at the age of 82.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James W. McClinton, Sr. and Eva H. McClinton, and sisters, Mildred Kennedy and Alberta McDowell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Gwen Harris McClinton; his brother, James W. McClinton, Jr. of Nashville; daughters, Cathy Antee (Glenn) and Audrey Fortier (Todd); grandchildren, Alan Antee (Julie), Alison Hayes (Stephen), Emma and James Fortier; great grandchildren, James Antee and Natalie and Ryker Dummitt; much loved nieces an nephews; and cherished life-long friends.
Rush graduated from Bessemer High School and from Auburn University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired as a Colonel in the United States Army after 30 years of service. Rush enjoyed a distinguished engineering career at Stockham Valves and Fittings and as Vice President of Manufacturing with Milwaukee Valve. He served as President of Manufacturers Standardization Society of the Valve and Fittings Industry (MSS) and was active in American Petroleum Institute (API). He was a member of Riverchase United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Riverchase United Methodist Church. The service will follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Wes Savage officiating. Interment will be held at 1:15 PM at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with full military honors.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and comfort provided by the UAB Hospital Cardiac Intensive Care and Medical Intensive Care units.
