Roy Staggs

Mr. Roy "Wayne" Staggs, 66, peacefully went into the healing hands of God on September 13, 2011. He was a loving father, son, brother, grandfather and friend to so many, loved to fish, treasure hunt, and go to yard sales on Saturday mornings with his friend, Clint Scherf and son in law, Tony. He graduated from Thompson High School and served four years in the United States Air Force. Wayne is survived by his mother, Lamerle Lantrip, brother, Alan "Pete" Staggs, daughter, Stephanie Honeycutt (Tony), grandsons, Sam Eastman, Elijah Honeycutt, Ryder Honeycutt, daughter, Kristen Hollis (Stacey), grandson ,Aaron Hollis, granddaughter, Sarah Hollis, nephews, Tommy Staggs (Kelly), and Matthew Staggs (Stefanie), and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Samuel Windham, his critical care doctor at UAB and his favorite nurses, Robert Howell, David West, Nathan Smock, Stephen Howell, and social worker, Wendy Walters for all the compassionate caring and support provided during his journey. The family will receive friends Thursday, September, 15, 2011, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, September 16, 2011, at 10 AM at the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the National Brain Tumor Society at www.braintumor.org.
