Mr. Roy Jasper Leverett, 86, of Vestavia, AL, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010, in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Leverett and Mr. Clint Leverett. He is survived by his wife, Martha "Steele" Leverett, whom he met in 1948, while he was in school at the University of Alabama and she was in Nursing Training at Druid City Hospital. They each found the love of their life. He is also survived by a son, Roy Michael Leverett (Martina); two daughters, Dorothy Jean Leverett and Mary Ann Hutto; a sister, Mary Joyce Price (Eddie); five grandchildren, Chris Leverett (Kim), David Hutto, Robert Wash, Jessica Milster (Brian), and Alison Wash; three great grandchildren, Quinton, Landon, and Ava; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of Altadena Country Club and an avid golfer, and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. After resigning he was made an honorary member of the country club. He was also a lifetime Alabama fan. He was a member of the Armed Services and served overseas during WWII. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 22, 2010 from 5-7 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a private family memorial service on Thursday, September 23, 2010. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to John Croyle's Big Oak Ranch or Mountain Top Community Church.
