Ronald D. Robbins, age 79, Hoover, AL, passed away on October 29, 2015.
Survived by his loving and devoted wife Sylvia Robbins; 3 dogs: Hope, Brody and Peanut Butter; 6 Children: Lana Weekley, Christie Parente, Scott Keen, Jackie Pattison, Michael Robbins and Brandon Robbins. Papa to 13 Grandchildren and a large extended family.
Ron was the oldest of 7 siblings, predeceased by his son Ronnie Robbins, parents Gladys and Vance Robbins, a brother, sister and several pets. Special thanks to Harold Robinson, his lifetime friend and care giver during his most recent illness.
Ron treasured his wife, family, animals, friends and books. He was the family patriarch and will be missed by all who loved his poems, bad jokes and demanding personality. Ron was known by all to be a hard worker and enjoyed a long and successful career in the construction industry which started as a draftsman in Bedford, Indiana. Through the years his work took him across the country where he formed lasting friendships and many loyal colleagues from: Indiana Limestone, F.A. Wilhelm, Mid Republic, Utley James, Rogers, Doster, C.A. Oakes, and Roxco Construction companies. Ron left a lasting impression on all with whom he came in contact.
Ron and Sylvia attended Canaan Baptist Church in Bessemer, Alabama.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 11 AM with a memorial at 12 PM and a reception to follow at 1 PM at The Chapel @ Briarwood Presbyterian Church, 2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham, AL (205) 776-5200.
In lieu of flowers donations welcomed in the name of his daughter Jackie Robbins Pattison to the Coastal, Georgia Chapter of Susan G. Koman for the Cure of breast cancer.
