Ronald Forbis

FORBIS, RONALD MAC, age 64, of McCalla went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church where he served as a greeter and assistant Sunday school teacher. Ron was a graduate of Hewitt Trussville High School and the University of Montevallo. He enjoyed coaching his daughters playing softball and serving as Booster President for the Hewitt Trussville High School Band. Ron was a HAM radio operator, NW4M. He loved life and never met a stranger. Ron loved telling stories especially about history. He enjoyed being involved with his grandchildren’s activities. Ron was a true blessing to all who knew him and will forever be loved and greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter and name sake Ronni Suzanne Yates. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Jean Crim Forbis, two daughters Jennifer (Scott) Berger of McCalla and Dana (Chris) Yates of Bessemer, one granddaughter Jessica Berger and three grandsons Zachary Berger, Cy Yates and Zane Yates, one sister Barbara (Jim) Derryberry of Ellerslie, Ga and one brother Bobby (Teresa) Forbis of Byhalia, Ms. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 6, 2009 from 10:30 -12:30 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, Hoover. Funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:30 pm with Brother Morgan Bailey officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family asked that all donations be made to BTF Canaan Baptist Church, 2543 Morgan Road, Bessemer, AL 35022
