Ronald Drake

October 8, 1932 — November 21, 2016


Ronald Alex Drake, of Birmingham, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016, at age 84. Ronald joined the US Air Force in 1950, served in the Korean War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star, and completed his military service in the National Guard, serving our country for 27 years. He became a sales manager for Southern Duo-Fast (1970-1991) for the North Alabama Territory. Retiring at the age of 59, Ronald and Tina were avid travelers and crisscrossed the United States in their motorhome. At the age of 70, Ronald went back to work as a national sales rep for Apach, continuing to travel in his motorhome with Tina as his "Girl Friday." Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mary Edith Drake; and his brother, Doug Drake.

Ronald is survived by his wife, Christine Drake; his son, Steve Drake; his daughters, Debra Alamo and Pamela Prater; his grandchildren, John Prater, Hannah Alamo, Will Prater, and John Watts; his great grandchildren, Michael Watts and Brian Watts; and his sister, Brenda Ashline.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 26, 2016, from 10-11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. The service will follow in the Chapel at 11 AM. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Rev. Ricky Ruston officiating.
