Roger Sykes

age 75 of Hoover, passed away Friday, January 28, 2005 after a long struggle with lung cancer.He was born February 9, 1929. Mr. Sykes was retired from Barber's Ice Cream. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alma Sykes; 2 sisters, Lorraine Cartier and Lois Wise; a son, Steven Sykes and the mother of his children, Alice. He is survived by his wife Betty Sykes of Hoover; 2 sons, Gary Sykes (Sue) of White Bear Lake, MN and Greg Sykes of Almelund, MN; 2 daughters, Karen Holm (Dave) of White Bear Lake, MN,and Rhonda McKellepp of Chisago City, MN; a daughter-in-law, Lea Sykes of Maplewood, MN; 1 stepson, Scott West of Birmingham; 4 step-daughters; Tina Godoy (Adolph) of Corpus Christi, TX; Pamela West, Regina Davis (Pete) and Lisa Holder, all of Birmingham; 19 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Harry Sykes (Evelyn) of Stewartville, MN; 2 sisters, Phyllis Heins (Stanley) of Redwood Falls MN, and Donna Bierwirth (Bill) of Sheboygan, WI. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 30, 2005, from 1 pm to 3 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel.
