Robin Baker

September 23, 1959 — March 18, 2025

Robin Annette Baker, lovingly known as "Robbie," of Homewood, AL, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2025, surrounded by her entire family and special loved ones. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend whose warmth, intelligence, and generosity left an indelible mark on those who knew her.

Robin was born on September 23, 1959, and was a proud graduate of Homewood High School (Class of 1977) and the University of Montevallo (Class of 1981), where she excelled academically, earning a place on the Dean's List in 1980 and 1981.

Her professional journey included roles at Green Springs Animal Clinic, First United Methodist Church (FUMC), and United Ability. At FUMC, she was affectionately known as "The Voice" of the church, warmly greeting everyone who entered or called the church office. She also earned the nickname "Spanish Robin" for her visits to the Child Development Center, where she shared her love of language by teaching children Spanish.

Robin had a remarkable ability to find and give the most thoughtful gifts, making each recipient feel truly special. She was a passionate patron of the Homewood Library, enjoying books, puzzles, films, and games. Her keen intellect made her a formidable opponent in trivia, particularly in Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune. She found beauty in the world around her, often writing poetry while watching the sunset from her favorite hilltop spot. A devoted animal lover, she supported the humane society and cared deeply for her beloved dog, Bama. Those who knew Robin find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited in heaven with Bama, who was always by her side.

Robin was a cherished member of First Stage Players and delighted in participating in theater productions. Above all, she was a people person, bringing joy, kindness, and laughter to those around her.

She is survived by her loving Mama, Sara Baker; her brother, Walt Baker; her sister-in-law, Melinda Pate; her sisters, Anita Baker and Nickie Murphy; her brother-in-law, Fred Murphy; her niece, Laura Murphy; her nephew, Brian Murphy; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Walter L. Baker, Jr.; her grandparents, William & Ethel Ward and Walter & Eleanor Baker, Sr.; and her dear dog, Bama.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at UAB's Women and Infants Center, Alabama Hospice of Birmingham, and Dr. Mollie DeShazo at UAB O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to United Ability, Greater Birmingham Humane Society, or the Homewood Public Library Foundation in Robin's memory
