Robert Smoke

Smoke, Robert L. (Bobby), age 71, of Hoover, went to be with the Lord Saturday, August 27, 2005.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse F. and Laura Hill Smoke. He is survived by Mrs. Sara Smoke, loving and faithful wife of more than 43 years, daughter Sandy (Terry) Stephens, son, Sammy (Dawn) Smoke, grandchildren, Katie and Bo Stephens, and Luke, Abbie, Isabelle and Mary Amelia Smoke, all of Birmingham, Alabama, and sister, Annie Laura (Bob) Lynch of St. Simons Island, Georgia. Pallbearers will be Bobby Trammell, Bill Panter, Ben Helton, Tom Doran, Darrell Fitts, Walter Anderson, Ken Falkner and Eddie Thigpen. Bobby was a member of Irondale United Methodist Church and attended Bluff Park United Methodist Church in Hoover. He served for 2 years as a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army, graduated from Auburn University in 1961, and later in life retired from Stoody Company. He was a member of the Shades Valley Lodge, Zamora Temple, Hoover Country Club and enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, NASCAR, immaculate yards, Auburn football, and was an exemplary servant to his family and friends. Visitation will be held at Jefferson Currie Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, August 28th from 6 until 8 pm. Funeral services will be Monday August 29th at 10:00 am (Rev. Reid Crotty officiating). Burial will be at Southern Heritage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to the Zamora Transportation Unit or Bluff Park United Methodist Church.
