Mr. Robert "Bob" Bruce Myrick, Jr., of Hoover, AL passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the age of 74. Preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Robert Myrick, sister, Carolyn Myrick Braden, niece, Paula Blankenship, first wife, Gretha Jones Myrick, and son, Tony Myrick. Survived by his wife, Barbara Myrick, step-children, Tim (Pam) Pesnell and Bill Pesnell, nephew, Scott (Tammy) Watkins, niece, Lori Goehring, cousin, Ken (Jean) Watkins and extended family of grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. Bob attended Shades Valley High School prior to joining the Navy and Air Force and the Fire/Crash Rescue Section of the 117th Alabama Air National Guard where he was awarded Airman of the Year 1976 and Airman of the Quarter May, June, July, 1977. President of the Alabama Subcontractors Association 1988-89 where he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award. President and CEO of Thompson Electric prior to retiring in 1998, Board member and volunteer at Shelby Ironworks Park. He was an avid motorcyclist and member of the "Sunshine Riders" and "Over-the-Hill Gang" motorcycle clubs. He built and donated motorcycles to the Barber Motorsports Museum. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 13, 2013, from 12-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home with funeral services at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
