passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the age of 81. He was born May 30, 1926 to Gustave and Mary Ann Shurina Janchus in Irvington, NJ. Mr. Janchus graduated from Irvington High School in June 1944 and enlisted in the US Army Air Corps where he served in the European Theater. He attended Seaton Hall University in NJ and retired as an engineer in the pulp and paper industry. Mr. Janchus was an active member in St. Peter's the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, AL. He was a 4th degree knight in the Knights of Columbus and served many years as an officer of the Auxiliary at Shelby Baptist Hospital. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth Rita Hack Janchus; a son, Stephen Robert Janchus (Barbara); two daughters, Barbara Ellen Janchus Fitzsimmons (Michael) and Joanne Elizabeth Janchus; five grandchildren, Sandra Jayne Fitzsimmons (Chad Plaster), David Michael Fitzsimmons (Lisa), Mark Aaron Fitzsimmons (Stephanie), Nathaniel Joseph Janchus, and Ryan Robert Janchus; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Logan Plaster and Reilly Elizabeth Fitzsimmons; The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2008 from 5-7pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, Hoover, AL. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 10am at St. Peter's the Apostle Catholic Church. Entombment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, donations my be made to the Shelby Baptist Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and/or the Why Me Foundation of San Diego, CA.
