Robert Howe

Robert Howe, long-time resident of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on March 8, 2018, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

Robert H. Howe, was born on January 23, 1922, in Lorraine, Ohio, to Rudolph H. Howe and Jesse Ruth (Yeomans) Howe. He had an older sister, Carol. During World War II, he served as a B-24 tail gunner in the Army Air Corps. After his discharge, he had a long career in the printing trade and then as a realtor. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, June O’Neill Howe.

Robert is survived by two sons, Roger H. Howe of Whitewright, Texas, and David Ross Howe of Oneonta, Alabama; and step-daughter, Pat Thompson of Birmingham. He had four grandsons and one granddaughter. Two grandsons currently reside in Alabama. One grandson and his family reside in Spring, Texas, a suburb of Houston and the other grandson resides in San Diego, California. His granddaughter lives with her family in Fort Worth, Texas. He also had eight great-grandchildren. Two in Alabama, three in Spring, Texas, and three in Fort Worth, Texas.

Robert was an active member and elder of Lake Crest Presbyterian Church in Hoover, Alabama, and he was also a member of the Gideons. He will be remembered for his gentile manners, optimistic outlook, steadfastness, and love of nature.

Services will be held at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama, at two o’clock PM on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, with the Reverend Thomas Joseph of Lake Crest Presbyterian Church, presiding. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.

Memorials in his name may be made to the local Humane Society or your public library, in which he was also involved.
