Robert Bruce Herndon, 68, of Alabaster, AL, passed away at UAB Hospital on Thursday, February 16, 2017, after a brief illness. Born October 15, 1948, a native of Aberdeen, MS and a longtime resident of Alabaster, AL. Known to his family and friends as Poppa, Bobby B, and Pinky. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, long-time Alabama football fan, an avid muscle car enthusiast. His joy was spending time with family and grandchildren. He had a big, fun-loving personality and loved to make others laugh by telling jokes, pulling pranks, and teasing those he loved. Preceded in death by his father, George Robert Herndon of Aberdeen, MS. Survived by his mother, Ann'Ola Herndon of Aberdeen, MS; wife, Debbie J. Herndon of Alabaster, AL; son, Matt (Jenny) Herndon of Chelsea, AL; daughter, Leann (Matthew) Adair of Alabaster, AL; and his grandchildren, Madison Herndon, Vivienne Hensler, Ethan Herndon, Sasha Hensler, Molly Herndon and Cash Adair; his beloved fur-daughter, Miss Tea; and beloved family and friends throughout the U.S. The visitation will be held at Church of the Highlands Riverchase Campus in Pelham, AL, on Saturday, February 25th at 12:00 pm. The memorial service will begin at 1:00 pm.
