Robert Furlong

of Hoover, Alabama, passed away July 3, 2005, at the age of 54. Robert was a native of Centreville, Alabama before moving to Birmingham upon his graduation from college. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama in accounting and was a member of the Delta Chi social fraternity. Robert was a CPA and has served as a president of Burch Corporation for the past 15 years. It was with great pride and delight that he served as director of the Big Oak Ranch for over 25 years and was Chairman of the Finance Committee and Board Member Emeritus. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Taylor Furlong; daughters, Shea (Mark) Williams and Gracie Furlong, and son, Daniel Furlong, all of Birmingham; mother, Doris Furlong of Hoover; brothers, Edwin (Debra) Furlong of Hoover, Dennis (Lisa) Furlong of Montgomery and Gary Furlong of Pacifica, California. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Shades Mountain Independent Church. The family will also receive friends on Wednesday, July 6, 2005 from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. with service to follow at 3 p.m. at Shades Mountain Independent Church with Rev. Randy Overstreet officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South. Donations may be made to the Big Oak Ranch at P.O. Box 507, Springville, AL 35146.
