of Hoover, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2007, at the age of 85. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Oceanside, CA, which he designed and built. He attended Oakmont Presbyterian Church in Hoover, AL and was a member of the Hoover Senior Center. Mr. Edwards graduated from The Ohio State University in 1949 with degrees in architecture and engineering and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and Tau Beta Pi Honorary Fraternity. He was a member of the American Institute of Architecture and a 36 Year member of the Rotary Club, Paul Harris Fellow, El Camino Country Club of Oceanside, CA and a member of VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed swimming, flying, golf, gardening, and reading. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and received military awards: European Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Stars, Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters, and Distinguised Flying Cross. He participated in 35 bombing missions over Germany and France during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Edith Edwards, and two brothers, Herbert Richard Edwards and William George Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Edwards of Hoover; two nephews, Jeff Edwards (Pam) of Hoover and Herbert Edwards, Jr. of Lorain, OH; three nieces, Carol Edwards Greentree, of Amherst, OH, Karen Edwards and Janett Edwards of Lorain, OH; three great nieces, Susan Edwards Mitchell (Rob) of Daphne, AL and Amy Burnett of Proctorville, OH and Carol Ann Burnett of OH; a great nephew, Mark Edwards (Cathy) of Hoover; and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 1, 2007, from 2-3 PM at Oakmont Presbyterian Church with a memorial service to follow at 3 PM.
