Robert Burgess, Jr

Mr. Robert Ernest Burgess, Jr., age 88, a lifelong resident of Mobile, passed away in Birmingham on Monday, January 10, 2011. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1943 until 1946. He retired as a Cost Engineer after many years of service in the construction industry. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Icard Burgess, son, Robert E. Burgess III (Jean) and daughter, Barbara B. O'Brien (John) of Centerville, OH; two grandchildren, Robert E. Burgess IV and Rachel Lauren O'Brien; two brothers, William V. Burgess and Marion A. Burgess both of Mobile. The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, Saturday, January 15, 2011, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Hwy 119 in Birmingham. A Mass of Christian burial will follow in the church at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in his memory.
