age 85, born July 27, 1924 passed away March 18, 2010. He was preceded in death by son Robert Bruce Bailey, Jr in January 2009. He is survived by Wife Gladys M. Bailey, daughter Rebecca Jacks (Carl) and son Richard Bailey (Judy). Bruce was a retiree of Southern Company Services having worked there for 38 years. He was a member of Altadena Presbyterian Church, PCA and former member of Covenant Presbyterian Church (PCA). Bruce and Gladys were longtime members of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, PCA, having joined it during the ?storefront days? in the 1960?s. They raised their family in the church and contributed their talents to the growth of the church and to the Glory of God. Bruce pioneered the media ministry there and served in it for 25 years. Bruce was an Army veteran from World War II having served from 1942 ? 1946 and was trained originally as a Radar Technician. However, as the fortunes of war changed and the Army realized that there were not many more Nazi planes to worry about, he was trained to maintain and repair radios on jeeps, halftracks and tanks. He was then attached to 150th Signal Company, 10th Armored Division and was part of the crusade to free Europe. He, like many of his generation, came home from the war and got back to his life. They had won the war and now it was time for them to win the peace. Taking advantage of the G.I. Bill he received his degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and eventually moved to Birmingham with his wife and started a family. Bruce was a man of many talents and accomplishments. He loved gardening, constructing and Square Dancing with his wife. He was very involved in the community and church and was very devoted to his family. Most importantly he was strong in his Faith to God and it was evident in his talk and in his walk. That is his legacy for us and it makes his loss easier to bear. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM, Monday, March 22, 2010, at Altadena Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will follow in the church at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Bruce?s memory to Altadena Presbyterian Church/Missions Fund, 4660 Caldwell Mill Road, 35243.
