Riley Brice, Jr

Mr. Riley M. Brice, Jr., of Mountain Brook, AL, died June 1, 2011. He was born on November 28, 1930 in Florence, SC, the son of Riley M. Brice and Lillie Watford Brice. He spent most of his pre-college years in Winnsboro, SC and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina. Mr. Brice served in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. Mr. Brice was employed by Southern Bell and worked in Atlanta and Savannah, GA before being transferred to the South Central headquarters in Birmingham, AL in 1970 and retired from Bell South Services in 1991. He was an active member of Brookwood Baptist Church for many years where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School teacher for 38 years, and he was active in the construction and medical mission projects of the church. In 1952, Mr. Brice married Barbara Reed Brice who joined him in death. He is also survived by one son; Riley Brice, Jr. (Marty)of Auburn, AL, two daughters; Mrs. Janet Dees (David) and Mrs. Linda McGarr (Sam) both of Birmingham, two grandsons; Riley Brice III, and Christopher Brice, three granddaughters; Elizabeth Brice, Leigh Dees, and Rachel Dees. A memorial service will held for Mr. Brice at Brookwood Baptist Church, 3449 Overton Road, Mountain Brook, AL at 11:00 AM on June 6, 2011. The family will receive friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM on June 5, 2011, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, 2701 John Hawkins Parkway, Hoover, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Construction Mission Fund of Brookwood Baptist Church, 3449 Overton Road, Mountain Brook, AL.
