Richard Packa

Richard E. Packa, of Hoover, AL, formerly of Canton, OH, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2013, at the age of 86. He was a WWII U.S. Navy Veteran and served on the USS Pilias. He served as the President and CEO of the Golden Circle Credit Union in Canton, OH. In addition, he worked for the Timken Roller Bearing Co. in Canton. Mr. Packa was an active member of Little Flower Catholic Church in Middlebranch, OH. He was named Volunteer of the Year by Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX and served as a vocational teacher.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marie C. Packa and a son, Richard V. Packa. He is survived by 2 sons, Daniel Packa (Janet) of Lorton, VA and Joseph Packa (Donna) of Hoover, AL; 3 daughters, Christine Maddy (Brian) of Pine Mountain, GA, Roseanne Smith (George) of Columbus, OH, and Jennifer Carpenter Deject of Tega Cay, SC; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Ann Lamoreaux of Bradford, PA; 1 brother, Edward Packa of Canton; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM, Thursday, January 2, 2014, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, AL. Funeral mass will follow at the church at 11 AM. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
