Ret. Pace, Sr

Ret. Cpt. James R. Pace, Sr., of Vestavia, AL, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016, at the age of 86. He was a retired Captain of the City of Bessemer Police Department. He was a graduate of Samford University.
He is preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dovie Pace; two sons, James R. Pace, Jr. (Martha) and Robert Brian Pace; one daughter, Patricia Rae Kines; five grandchildren, April Atkins, Thomas and Katie Pace, Micah and Isaac Kines; three great grandchildren, Anna and Hunter Pace and Allister Akins; two brothers, Donald R. and Harry Pace; two sisters, Christine Carlson and Linda Knopps; and several nieces, nephews and host of friends.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 11-1 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 1 PM in the chapel. Interment will be in Walker Memory Gardens.
